First Visit to New Orleans – What a Great Place
This was my first visit to New Orleans and I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the City the weekend before the conference and the New Orleans Jazz Festival April 14-15, 2012. I saw beautiful fireworks out my hotel window overlooking the river.
The food and music was great! I had lunch at the Pier 424, wanted to try Crawfish but they were sold out so will have to try again before I leave. The Oysters were fantastic. I took a Carriage Tour that was also a must do.
I was able to take a ride on the only steam engine powered paddle boat on the Mississippi River, the largest port in the United States. Waiting to board they played the steam organ that was very nostalgic.
Had Beignets at Café Du Mond and got to shake hands with the Wildman of Kentucky who happened to be shooting a spot at Café Du Mond– Check him out on You Tube – I referred to him as the Armadillo Man because I had seen that episode on the Animal PlanetChannel. So that was pretty exciting. To see the clip of the Armadillo episode go to You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxqwUBty-sU&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL1E99C5C962654ED3.
Overall, it has been a great time!
